Megahurts’s Workshop
Description (From Stormworks Workshop)
One of the most iconic German planes of WWII. While not as powerful as the later models, they still rained destruction during the Blitzkrieg. Later versions, though superior to the B, were outclassed by Allied fighters as the war progressed.
Any hardcore aviation buffs will realize it’s not entirely accurate to that model. Instead, think of it as a modern restoration or a replica with it’s Supercharger and ‘No Smog’ upgrades. I really wanted to make the canopies slide as IRL but it was not to be…hope you can forgive me these modifications. Also, the automatic dive recovery system is beyond my skill to make at the moment…perhaps in a future update.
Thanks to all those who share their creations on Workshop! I’m a hull guy mostly and tend to stay away from the logic side except for some small things. All the cool stuff in the Stuka that came from the WS is listed at the bottom.
Features
- Small diesel engine.
- Dive speed about 275 kph
- Cruising speed 195 kph
- Fuel Capacity 3000 liters
- Range about 300 km using the Supercharger. Expect more range without it.
- Low Fuel Warning System (Light flashes and alarm sounds with 750 liters remaining (can silence alarm))
- Low Altitude Warning (SIren sounds briefly at 450 meters (can silence alarm)).
- Modern Emissions Compliant (No Exhaust Smoke)
- Air Brakes (Just a visual thing)
- Jericho Sirens (Again, just visual)
- Bomb Rack with a 500 kg bomb (Detonator on a 3 second delay)
- Wing Mounted Machine Guns and Rear Tail Gun (sounds only of course)
- 2x Parachutes (Tucked in behind each seat)
- Custom ‘Dapple’ camouflage.
- Radio
- Heat
- Crosshair
- Uses some xml modified blocks (1×8 wedges in the fuselage)
ControlsClimb up on the wing via the landing gear. The pilot canopy is open on spawn, the rear canopy can be opened via the button beside the pilot seat (left side). Oh…and watch your head when closing it :p
Up/Down—Throttle
WSAD——-Pitch and Roll
Left/Right—Yaw
1—Machine Guns
2—Supercharger
3—Radio PTT
4—Air Brakes
5—Bomb Rack
6—Bomb Release
Important: Ensure you turn on the radio even if not using voice. The bomb detonator uses default radio frequency (0)
Other Controls are all labelled and should be self explanatory. If not, post below and I will assist.
Notes
- When heavy with fuel and payload, it needs a fair bit of runway to get off the ground. Using the Supercharger is highly recommended for take-off, climbing and any spirited maneuvers.
- Also when heavy, you’ll want to adjust the Pitch Trim (-.15 or so). Adjust again after dropping payload and occasionally as fuel burns off.
- The 500kg bomb ‘explodes’ with a couple illumination flares and a smoke flare. Changing the radio frequency should prevent it from activating in case it causes lag or if flares are banned on your MP server.
- The PTT buttons are on a ‘Toggle’ as I use PTT for my mic already…no point having to press 2 buttons to talk. Change the ‘3’ keys to ‘Push’ for one or both seats as required if you use voice activation.
- Fuel filler is located on the starboard (right) side, just behind the wing.
- Exterior canopy button on the port (left) side, just behind the wing.
- To begin a bombing run, deploy airbrakes (4), lower bomb rack (5), aim and fire (6). Using the LAW alarm as a release point works nicely.
- Fuel consumption is approx 10 liters per km with the Supercharger engaged, engine at 17 RPS while in a slow and steady climb. It carries enough fuel to go to the Arctic, drop a bomb and return to base without refueling 🙂 (at least in my gameseed).
- The tail wheel brake is applied with the airbrakes.
This is my first plane, please be kind and report any issues you may have and I will try to address them.
Have fun and let those sirens wail!! (silently :p)
